Object Positioning without Decimal Pixel Values
I did a few searches, but I'm just not finding anything useful, so I'm going to ask.
I just started working with Flash MX (I've used Flash 4 & 5 in the past, but it's been a while). I'm building a component for an application that will run both standalone (with a hosted browser component) and as a web application. This is a highly interactive widget, so Flash makes sense, especially since want it to scale with a user's screen resolution. I'm getting a bit frustrated trying to put this thing together. I'm building subcomponents as movie clips, and I want some pretty precise positioning on the base pieces so that it will scale as cleanly as possible. If I use guides, grids, different snap setting, whatever, it seems like my components refuse to position themselves on even pixel units, always choosing 100.1 or 99.7 or some crap like that. Sure, I can edit the coordinates, but that's a real pain. If I do cursor moves on the objects, they move .3 pixels per tap. WTF? .3 pixels? Even if I get the x and y to drop evenly, the widths always seem to adjust themselves by a tenth of a pixel one way or the other when I paste them or move them. Anyway, I haven't been able to find a magic mix of preferences that makes Flash MX position things on whole numbers of pixels. It's getting really frustrating. I've read some stuff on the news group that makes me think I might just have to live with it (and maybe go build an ActiveX object instead where I can have more control), but I'd thought I'd ask for some advice. Thanks in advance... Oh, just for the record - I came here because the Macromedia forums basically stink. Thank you for using a more traditional forum software and not that crazy/slow "FuseTalk" stuff they're running. |
