I am currently trying to create a dynamic menu for a page to display pictures. Ideally, I would like for the menu to detect the files (pictures) that are in subdirectories arranged by category. I would like to set it up so that one menu would select the category, which would tell the other menu the which subdirectory to list the files of.
I have created the graphics for my menus, but I am having trouble putting it all together. Here are my issues: 1. I can't get the buttons within my menu to work. I currently have one movie clip, set up as a button, that displays the menu and some dummy items. Inside the movie clip I have other buttons over the dummy items, but they don't work when I run the movie, they don't show up at all. 2. How do I detect the existance of directories dynamically and put their names into an array? Similarly with the files in the directories? 3. An acceptable alternative to having it be completely dynamic is to have some text files in the root directory of my page that contain the subdirectory and file information. I have tried this, but I would like to be able to create an array in the external files, but when I try to load the array in flash, the values always appear as undefined. If anyone could help me out with any/all of the above questions, that would be great. Thanks. Justin
