I don't know if anyone else has found this yet, but flash 5 displays some bitmap images (ie.BMP,JPG)incorrectly. They become jagged around the edges and distort terribly. I tried the exact same images in flash 4, and they work perfectly. I also made sure JPEG quality was set to 100%. Prehaps flash 5 renders images differently.
Let me know if anyone else has found this problem and a way to get around it.
