This November, Sony will be releasing its PlayStation Suite SDK, allowing developers to create Android-based games for PlayStation Vita, Xperia Play, Sony Tablet S, Tablet P, and other PlayStation-certified Android devices.
At Tokyo Game Show 2011, Sony announced that the PlayStation Suite SDK will be compatible with the PlayStation Vita, enabling developers to easily port games from Android devices to Vita. PlayStation Suite will also support the C# programming language, opening PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Certified devices to a wide range of developers. Microsoft's XNA framework, for example, is based on C#. The SDK will support C# as the primary programming language and software created in C# will run on the entire range of PlayStation-certified hardware. "By supporting development for multiple devices and by adopting libraries to create a variety of content not only limited to games, PS Suite SDK will not only help developers save their cost in creating new content but also allow them to efficiently create their content on one SDK and without having to create on several different SDKs" mentioned by Sony. Through PS Suite SDK, SCE will provide to game developers and publishers the potential to further expand their business opportunities to Android based portable devices. In addition, SCE can approach to a wider range of content developers, non-gaming developers and individual programmers. Sony will also be updating the PlayStation Store next spring to support PlayStation-certified devices and PlayStation Suite content. Sony has announced that PlayStation Suite will allow Android games to be played on PlayStation Vita. PlayStation Suite games will be made available on PlayStation Vita through the PlayStation Network store starting spring 2012. Apply for the dev suite here.
