width & height properties of components
Hiya,
I have been messing around making my own components but am stumped as to what is going on with their width & height properties. If you place an MX component (eg TextArea) on the stage in the authoring environment and change the width/height in the properties panels, the clip updates to the new size without distorting, ie stretching to the new size. This is also true when you export the movie. However with my home-brewed components, whose classes extend the MovieClip class, the bounding box or 'masked' area of the compiled clip reacts to the changed dimensions (although the clips internal movieclip members do not), and then upon exporting, the clip's dimensions are distorted to the height/width. I think this question is tied in to my earlier post about compiled clip's bounding boxes in the authoring environment and how to update them when an inspectable variable is changed. I will examine the UI components classes to see if I can work out what is going on, but just wondered if anyone has encountered these issues before. Are there any decent books on creating MX2004 components out yet? I've read Colin Moock's O'Reilly AS2 book plus the Actionscript Bible, but they kind of gloss over the subject. Good night
