Permission or Other Issue?
Okay, maybe I just need to talk this out, but I'm having what I thought was a permissions issue on my .flv files. Now I'm not so sure.
The files reside in three locations: My local machine [myMach] In house development server [devoServ] Off site live server [liveServ] I have an .htm file with the embedded .swf call. The .swf file has the embedded Media Playback controller referencing the .flv file. The .flv file is listed in the Flash component URL box without any path information, just a file name. The .htm, .dwf, and .flv files all share a directory on all three machines, though paths differ. 1. On myMach - browse with Windows Explorer to the local directory open .htm file IE is launched .swf plays click to start .flv .flv plays 2. On myMach - open IE and URL direct to local .htm http://localhost/directory/file.htm .swf plays click to start .flv .flv plays 3. On myMach - browse with Windows Explorer to open devoServ file share open .htm file on devoServ from myMach IE is launched .swf from devoServ plays must be from devoServ, different path on myMach to .flv files click to start .flv .flv from devoServ plays 4. On myMach - open IE and URL direct to devoServ .htm http://devoServ/otherdirectory/file.htm .swf plays click to start .flv .flv DOES NOT PLAY <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< 5. On devoServ - browse with Windows Explorer to open myMach file share open .htm file on myMach from devoServ IE is launched .swf from myMach plays click to start .flv .flv from myMach plays 6.
