simple flash e-learning project

Sandwell College (West Midlands, UK) is currently involved in an important DfES funded, BECTA managed project to investigate e-learning in practice. The college has funding to create a complete online learning package for a single unit of AS Level Biology (approximately one terms work).

Prior e-learning material creation experience will be an advantage, this will not however exclude anyone without e-learning experience but with a good portfolio. A background in science will also be considered as positive.

The course will be standalone HTML/Flash based and designed to allow someone to study independently and only have tutor contact by email e.g. to mark assignments etc. The package could be delivered completely online or via CD/DVD with the user only having to go online to take end of section tests and to retrieve the password for the next section.

The college’s lecturing staff will support the development process by identifying images, animations, activities and question requirements and by providing the text.

You will be expected to:

· Create a good looking and consistent design for a dreamweaver template
· Write a password protection javascript specific to our needs.
· Supply images to support the text provided, either purchased royalty free and/or custom made artwork from yourselves.
· Produce flash animations and activities
· Create quizzes for the students to go through, either in flash/javascript/php etc, with results submitted to the tutor (either by email via a cgi script or into an online database)

Examples of the nature of content are given at the following links:

As an approximation this project will require;
· 100 images
· 20 flash animations of biological processes (as defined by college teaching staff)
· 10 interactive flash activities
· 10 quizzes (including submission script or database storage(we can host))
· 1 template
· 1 css file
· access protection script

If you are interested in working on this project please take a look at the 8 example urls above and provide us with a price estimate for producing each individual item.

You should also provide us with an estimate for the whole project broken down into categories above, (e.g. 100 images - £xxxx etc) and with a minimum of 4 samples of art/flash work that you think are relevant.

Please send your quote/samples to:

david.cockayne (at) sandwell.ac.uk

The closing date for quotations and submission of interest is the 6th of October 2004. and the project must be completed before January 2005.

Any images purchased or developed for this project will be owned wholly and exclusively by Sandwell College including all source files (.fla, .psd etc) All content developed for this project will be the property of Sandwell College and can not be reused/resold without express permission.

If you have any further enquires please contact me on the email address above or by phone on 0121 253 6271

Please note that the college can only deal with limited companies, so this project is not open to freelancers.
