Catching KeyDown events with Components
As usual, using Flash form components turns the documentation into misleading inaccuracies or out and out lies.
I have a form screen that makes a little dialog box with in input text field and two buttons. I used the focus manager to give focus to the field, and invoke the Okay button when you hit the Enter key. Now all I want to do is have the dialog go away if you hit Escape. Again, what would have been a one liner in any other development environment has turned into half a day of frustration. How in the holy hell do you trap a keystroke with these components? I can make listener objects all day, but they turn a deaf ear to me. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm guessing that if I make a regular movie and add a listener to it, it will work as advertised. The form components really suck. EDIT: I went to give that a shot. Flash crashed. Hooray. |
