Resolved: Install custom component within the Component Panel?

Hi people

I'm learning how to create custom components. I'm reading this tutorial and I have a problem. I'm on page 3, step 8 and everything went well up to step 7. I have my apparently working component in my library and I want to have it in the Component Panel. Step 8 says I should place the FLA in a special location (C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\ Macromedia\Flash MX\Configuration\Components\ as I'm on Windows XP)

Problems:

1. I don't have a FLA yet at this point, as the tutorial didn't instruct to save at anytime. Do I need to save the animation in that state, with my component in the library and an instance randomly put on the scene? That seems weird to me to save the whole animation when all I need is the component in the lib. Is there a specific filename I should use? No instructions were given...

2. I don't have the C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\ Macromedia\Flash MX\Configuration\Components\ directory. In my user directory, I have a Flash MX 2004 directory instead of Flash MX (because I'm on 2004, obviously) and this directory does not contain a Configuration directory (yes, my explorer is set to show hidden files). In other directories in Documents and Settings (all users, default user ...) there is not even the Macromedia\Flash MX 2004 directory.

I tried to create Configuration\Components in my user directory and copy the FLA file there but that didn't work. I couldn't see the component in Flash even after restarting the application.

What am I missing? Thanks for any pointers.
