Flash and DSP

Is it possible to do any audio manipulation in Flash?
I'd love to be able to apply some kind of resonant filter to my audio that would depend on the motion of the graphics at that point in time, or something along those lines. I understand that it is possible to do stuff the other way around with Flashamp, which is cool, but I'd like to push things further.

If this isn't possible, how would you feel about future versions of Flash incorporating support for audio effect plugins e.g. VST? Imagine dynamically manipulating the nature of your compositions via actionscript - not just stopping and starting loops, but actually changing the nature of the sound waves with reverb, filters, phasers, distortion etc... Has this been looked into before?
