newbie Flash to MS SQL Server Database

I am currently doing a project which require me to use MS SQL Server. I have no idea how to integrade Flash to MS SQL. I need to go on need to get data and store it in the database. Then with some code(My Questions) which will get the data into Flash for users to view. My questions are below.

Do i use GET and POST and those LoadVars?
Or
Do i need a server-side script?

What is a server-side script?
Is it in VB or Perl or ?
Can i use VB 6.0?
Where do i place the server-side script?

I am really in need of help as my project is due soon. Should there be any questions please feel free to ask me. Thanks alot in advance for all the replies.
