Flash 7 *2004* - Matador/Toreador

Hello everyone.

I guess you are all pretty much glued to your screens by the spicy subject of this post. I guess every true flasher is amazed to hear something new about his favorite tool, whether it is a new player, or entirely new Flash authoring! So, here is the story...

About a week ago I stumbled upon some info about new Flash which is in the beta state of development. It was passed to me from a friend, who got it from further up the infamous Internet chain.
Apparently somebody who is beta tester couldn't keep his mouth shut, so some of the info leaked. Now, as this is absolutely unconfirmed data, it is free to be judged by you in any way or form. You can take it as nonsense since there is no actual word from Macromedia, or you might get intrigued by it and read on. Personally I find it amazing. I don't feel responsible for passing it on to you since I am under no obligation from Macromedia (although after this I might never get a job there :P). Actually when I placed it on a blog of my friend (on which I tend to help out), it caused quite a boom on FullasaGoog Flash MX blog listing.

Ok so finally, here is what you came in for:

First of all there are some changes in the authoring of the flash itself.

About Matador and Toreador:

There are now two versions of Flash: Matador and Toreador.
Matador: for the Web designer, interactive media professional, or subject matter expert developing multimedia content. Emphasis is on creation, import, and manipulation of many types of media (audio, video, bitmaps, vectors, text, and data).
Toreador: for advanced Web designers and application builders. Toreador includes everything that is in Matador along with several powerful new tools. It provides project management tools for optimizing the workflow between the members of a web team made up of both designers and developers. External scripting, databinding, along with other features, make it particularly useful for large scale, complex projects that will be deployed using Flash Player along with a hybrid of HTML content.

New features available in both Matador and Toreador (Partial List):

Document launch, doc tabs (Windows), Find and Replace, Undo/Redo, History panel, Commands menu, Dynamic toolbar configuration, extensible tools, Spell checker, Import Power Point and Authorware Behaviors and Effects, Video importing, encoding and editing, Full Unicode support, Accessibility in the authoring environment, Accessibility in Flash documents, Editing external scripts, Script navigator, ActionScript 2

New features available in Toreador only: Data binding, Device sound, Edit external scripts, External Players, Advanced Effects, Project workflow, Script navigator, String panel, Tab order indexing, Pro Player features...

Screenshot from Mac version:

Also I received a bunch of XMLs that apparently are being used for configuration of flash 7. Some commands that were marked as version="7" I picked up from ActionsPanel.xml, wich you can find here.

PHP Code:

<Property name="_lockroot" description="Lock _root" tiptext="Forces references to _root in a movie clip or its children to resolve to that movie clip" helpid="9999" variable="_lockroot" version="7" />

<
folder name="Properties" id="Properties" tiptext="Properties of movie clips" helpid="2457" version="4" >
    <
Property name="_lockroot" description="Lock _root" tiptext="Forces references to _root in a movie clip or its children to resolve to that movie clip" helpid="9999" variable="_lockroot" version="7" />

 <!--
Context Menu objects -->
      <
folder name="Context Menu" id="Context" sort="false" index="true" tiptext="Objects for customizing context menus" helpid="9999" version="7" >

  <!--
Mouse object -->
      <
folder name="Mouse" id="Mouse" sort="false" tiptext="Object that controls the mouse cursor"

helpid="2416" version="5" index="true">
            <
string name="onMouseWheel" tiptext="Listener invoked when mouse wheel is scrolled" helpid="9999" text=".onMouseWheel(% [delta] %)" version="7" type="listener" />

<!--
MovieClip object -->
          <
string name="getInstanceAtDepth" tiptext='Returns the movie clip instance found at the specified depth. ' helpid="9999" object="MovieClip" text=".getInstanceAtDepth(% depth %)" version="7" />
          <
string name="getNextHighestDepth" tiptext='Returns the next highest "z" order depth available' helpid="9999" object="MovieClip" text=".getNextHighestDepth()" version="7" />

<!--
PrintJob object -->
      <
folder name="PrintJob" id="PrintJob" index="true" sort="false" tiptext="Object that represents a print job" helpid="9999" version="7" >
    <!--
MovieClipLoader object -->
      <
folder name="MovieClipLoader" id="MovieClipLoader" index="true" sort="false" tiptext="Object that can be used to load SWF and JPG files into a movie clip or level" helpid="9999" version="7" >

  <!--
NetStream object -->
      <
folder name="NetStream" id="NetStream" index="true" sort="false" tiptext="" version="7"
If you want to look at everything else here is the complete archive of all XMLs.

There is also included one swf, that seems to be component settings swf, for transitions similar to Power Point. Scrollbar behavior is somewhat strange, maybe requiring new flash player.

[swf x=475 y=324]http://shock.b-inspired.net/flash7/Transitions.swf[/swf]

So... that is about everything I wanted to share with you. Feel free to comment in any way.
for your attention.
