Link problem

Hi, I've got an assignment that has to be in next week. Its not a big thing to be honest its very simple and what i've done is way beyond the specification required. I've emailed my lecturer but she couldnt understand the problem im having (to be honest i dont think shes too knowledged up on flash all her tutorials are borrowed from flash tutorial sites)...

Basically attached is the .fla file and the .swf file. The problem im having is that the when clicked on the links arnt doing anything except reseting that instance to frame 1. I've tried everything possible... im new to the whole instance thing and cant work out how to get the link to work correctly.

Its hard to explain the problem the easiest way is to look at the .swf file and try clicking on "Click here to start" and you will see nothing happens. If you then investigate the .fla file you'll probably find my problem.

I really hope you can help once i get the links working (linking from the instance) i can add the rest of the content for each menu link.

Any help on the problem would be greatly appreciated... thankyou

hi 0morgan0,
you have a long way to go buddy.
I ahve fixed up your files, but the way you have written it made me search for a long time. You had put your code everywhere, and anywhere it could possibly pe placed. That was making the problem.
I have modified your button graphics too, just make the desired changes as you like.

Thanks, i applied the same code for the main menu using a little workaround and it works fine.

Like you said its the first time i've worked with instances... everytime i convert a group in to a button or back i keep creating new instances... I did try cleaning up but ended deleted vital parts... which i had to remake. In the end i gave up and im left with a mess. As long as the main flash movie is ok working i dont have much of problem with mess in the background im sure its something i'll learn to avoid in the future.

No probs, but the thing is when you start to make something ,analyse it before jumping into solving. Then you will save a lot of time and effort.
happy flashing
