Hello,
I'm using Flash MX2004 and I can't seem to create a nice smooth zoom out tween of a jpg image. What I get is a choppy/jumpy animation of high quality image... I'm doing a 20fps over 110 frames and scaled image of only 75%.... Here is a portion of the movie: http://www.villalandscapes.com/testzoom.html Is there a better method of doing this than the regular symbol motion tween that I've used ![]() Thanks.

Check out this link on the topic. You need to set the quality to 'best'.

I would have never thought of that. Thanks.
Why would you ever even use high quality to publish the movie when 'best' looks so much bettter? I think that should be the defualt.....

Because the movie can tend to run slower when _quality is set to best. So if your movie does not have images (for example) then setting to best would be pointless. You set it depending on what you need.

you have to make the tween longer and the framerate faster
then it is much smoother |

Keep in mind Flash wasn't originally designed to use a lot of jpg images. It's a vector-based graphics program, which allows for such small filesizes, but reduces the capabilities of showing real-life images. As a result, jpg image support seems to be a bit lacking.

would not the "allow smoothing" option, when you double click the image have a smoothing affect? It would help to get rid of the jagged edges. I do that often when I use jpeg's and PSD's. BUT, about the loading speed...PSD's tend to make movies run slower because of the large file sizes. How else could you get a cut-out image imported into flash?

I might add that this no longer works in flash 8. You will want to go into your library and double click the photo itself. There is a checkbox that say allow smoothing, this is what you will need to do in flash 8. Quality = best will not help.

This is a vector-based graphics program that allows such small filesizes, but reduces the real-life image display capability. Therefore, support JPG picture seems a bit lacking.
