a browser always leaves some space between its border and the stuff on the page.
To switch this off, include the following in the body tag: leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" this should work. |

1. what about visiting the FAQ section before posting?
2. perhaps flash itself isn'T responsible for that matter coz this deals with flashs surrounding a browser for example. so what about having a look at some basic html programming technics? just an advice. and finally, HERE is what u have been searching for... welcome 2 flashmove ------------------ <Embed Src="http://flashmove.com/board/sig/Gargoyle.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="243" height="59"></Embed> |

Thanks for your replies.
Though I should have been more specific: It has to keep its proportions. Yes you are right for the code, but if you use this with 100%, the image distorts (such as if you have circles in your animation. I had macromedia on line and there seems to be a bug ,in the way that you cannot keep on the left corner up your animation, with a proportionnate 100%. It always centers.. and thus the white border up and down or the sides. Though this do not happen with pixel values (stays left corner up) or the exact proportionate window. but no client window is opened at the right value. And the "no border" option centers also (All this happens with the 0,0,0,0 value margins...) |

what about opening a new window or layer for it ? which offers the needed size?

Thanks for your attention Gorg.
The page is in a frame .The main frame with the flash animation is a background with a quarter moon, blue on the left up corner, and white for the rest, with circles inside, so no distorsion, and no tricky colored background, and no definite size window. Macromedia cannot find the solution, yet. I was wondering with maybe somewhat fixing a point on the leftup corner of the animation and define that point in the window.. I'm still searching.. |

im not sure i fully understand the problem so please excuse me if i am way off the ball but couldn't you just set the background color of the html page to the same background color as your flash movie to 'hide' that extra space that the browser puts in?

Yes that's the general stuff everyone does, but there are exceptions in design to this: such as a quarter moon cutting the whole page with one part having blue, and the other white.

2 posibilities:
1: work with zeromargins (also in the topframe (for netscape users)) and divide the botom frame into 2 colums using frames or using tables. 2: throw all that crap on layers and place them in exact position. ------------------ <Embed Src="http://flashmove.com/board/sig/Gargoyle.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="243" height="59"></Embed> |

yes , that's the trouble. If You need to come to frames or put it on layers, you loose the scale ability .
But macromedia did not find the solution, so I finally came to another solution: http://www.proxis-services.fr/News/MaquetteNewsV3.htm Thanks gargoyle for your concern.. |

ahh, there is a little difference that makes it all.
On the first version , you can see that the circle comes back on the botom. so you have 3 sides touching (left,up,bottom) the option "fit exactly" is on. on the second, only two sides touching. But on the second it is fixed and cannot be rescaled in the window, so -if- I have it with "100%scale", (first or second anyhow ....the swf stays centered if not in the "adjust exactly" option..... thus leaving a white border (in an un-proportionate window) on the blue side of the design . But in second version, you can leave fixed, (then up, left works) and whatever the window it opens in, it shows white on bottom right... that's the option I took, rather than broken proportions.. thx anyhow

i general i hate doing mixed pages... either thml or flash should be used to show content. coz this gives u maximum possibilities in design...

um... limiting yourself to one type of development tool reduces the amount of design element possible. with a good combination of dthml, javascript, and flash you could create some amazing websites.

well there is no diffrence if u use flash or dhtml to show content. i already coded grafixengines in javascript for a website the customer wanted no java or flash on it and it is also running but this is the hard way. so to show content if i got to use flash for a tricky animation i gonna do the whole site in flash coz then i don'T have to worry about tablespaces and browser compatibility.
one the one hand u r right, but i for myself really don'T have to prove anymore that i'm able to do high quality dhtml projects even better than my flashing is (joking) ![]() so i dunno what to choose if someone gave me the chice, but i would suggest the medium depending on the sort of content and i won't start a flash application just 2 show a few lines of plain text. ------------------ <Embed Src="http://flashmove.com/board/sig/Gargoyle.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="243" height="59"></Embed> |
