Good Tip, but I see a issue arising from informing to many people they should use 'deprecated' code.
Flash can't just deminish the Flash 4 syntax "over night".
Keep well aware that 'depracated' codes will be 'depracated'.
May not be today or tomorrow, but they will be.

With that out of the way! Great Link MixMatch, keeping the Flash Community aware of 'trade secrets'.

Hi Mixy,

This is a great thread! I'm sure some will learn of it and it is explained clear enough.

Thanx m8!

some talented people there have discovered some funny things the flash 5 player does.
building all its built-in objects with partly deprecated actionscript at startup, which
gives the word *deprecated* a new meaning, i'd say.
anyway, i read that some of these ASfunctions are absent in the flash 6 player, others are still there. so there is a different matrix of functions that define all the built-in objects, again written in deprecated actionscript. seems like the time when deprecated
actionscriptcomponents have been phased out will be in some far away future.
one might feel a bit cheated.

Igor Kogan and Dave Hayden suggest we optimize our actionscript. and differences in performance are really noticeable. have U seen the tree animations made by Amos Olson?

but there is something else that comes along with these discoveries.
we can call these undocumented functions ourselves!

I can not open that url

I can not open that url.I copy the url to my IE,but see a black page.
Can anyone give me a download address?
I design my work with flash5,then optimize my swf files with the optimize tool in batches.I think it is the fastest way.
You can download this tool, and try it.Here is the url:www.swishsoft.com/swiftoptimizer.htm
I think it is an ease-to use and efficiency tool.I have ever optimized a swf from 1.1M to 500KB.

Hello 3630621,
The URL is http://www.debreuil.com/vs/
It's not a downloadable application, it's a internet Interface Face.

I'm thinking about making one (obfuscator). The SWF parsing 'engine' is about 35% finished (it can read action tags, opcodes and most of it's parameters)

So, please tell me what you would want from such a program
