How does this sound?
Put a background image in the HTML where the Flash movie is embeded. Try something soft, anything from black to white.
Then add this

<PARAM NAME=wmode VALUE=transparent>

To the embed code of the HTML.

This will make you movie see through and the background will show through.

It may look cool any way.
