Alternative Options for Home Flooring Reviewed

Sometimes a model product can only do so much and might not give you the big picture once it’s installed. Before you regret choosing the wrong flooring for your home, we’ve come up with a list that can help you decide on which flooring option is best for your house remodeling project.

  1. Hardwood

Hardwood is a little tricky to talk about when it comes to home improvements. On the one hand, it can be the best choice for any home, proving a much-needed sepia tone, which with the right amount of varnish could make your home feel natural and fresh. But on the other hand, you might have to reconsider your budgeting choices as purchasing the wood is hardly the least of your problems. You would have to consider the regular maintenance of the material and the preparations before it can be in your home. A luxury choice, but not the best bet if you’re on a tight budget.

  1. Carpet

Carpet feels great to touch and can bring a sense of softness in a very strict and imposing room. The types of fabric used can also differ making it a different experience to touch depending on what you choose. However, the carpet is a tricky one when it comes to cleaning. Dust and allergens can be stuck underneath the fibres and can be problematic for those with dust allergies and mild asthma. It’ll take a powerful carpet cleaner to make sure that it’s free of any germs.

  1. Tiles

Tiles are commonly for outdoor areas, but they can be great additions to indoor places as well.  Flooring tiles come in a variety of shapes and models, and they’re also compact if ever the room you have doesn’t have the exact space for them to fit. Though if you’re working with a room that isn’t strictly the same as the dimensions of the tiles, you might have some uneven cut edges.

They could be great for dividing rooms into different colour designs if your walls are painted differently per area, but you also need to consider how it’s not the best option as an insulator. Tiles are cold to the touch, and some of them are very slippery when wet, depending on the material.

  1. Vinyl

Vinyl has waterproof properties that make it the best choice for messy areas in the house. It is equipped with waterproof laminate and it is one of the more natural options for a DIY home improvement project, it also allows you to have a versatile and durable flooring. If you’re looking for something that’s within your budget range, vinyl flooring could be the best choice for your money.

The pros of vinyl are that it can mimic other flooring types such as tile designs and even hardwood.  Deciding on vinyl as a cheaper option could enable you to mix and match with colour options to your home’s current palette without sacrificing your budget too much. Vinyl’s strong resistance to wetness and durability against scratches makes it an all-around contender for flooring choices.
